CURRENT PROJECTS

2011 P.A.I.N.T.

P.A.I.N.T is a musical visual art band based on the performance of a newly developed innovative technique called “Electro-Sonic Painting.” Electro-Sonic Painting is the process of simultaneously intertwining painting/mark making and electronic sound in a single process that culminates into the creation of a piece of artwork.
ELECTRO-SONIC PAINTING
Like Jazz, Electro-Sonic Painting is a mix of two creative principles: musical improvisation and artistic innovation. Electro-Sonic Painting combines musical improvisation and visual art. In other words, it is like painting with a microphone or creating musical notes with a canvas or brush. Electro-Sonic Painting uses custom canvases and brushes that produce sound electronically. P.A.I.N.T with its Electro-Sonic Painting process will further expand the arts by pioneering the revolutionary approach of transforming traditional art tools in musical instruments and playing them in a live performance. Developed by artist/educator Marcus Brown in 2005, during his hiatus in Portland, Oregon following Hurricane Katrina. Brown’s premise is that sound has always been present in the process of painting. His goal was to make the audible part of the process loud enough to be heard by the painter and an audience.

Description:
Open to young members of The Ogden Museum of Southern Art at any category, the Kohlmeyer Circle is named in honor of New Orleans artist and collector Ida Kohlmeyer (1912-1997). Her many works in the Museum's collection demonstrate her zestful celebration of life and art.
Inspired by her spirit, the young art and culture enthusiasts of the Kohlmeyer Circle creatively support the mission of The Ogden Museum by actively fostering events and programs, encouraging volunteerism and cultivating membership. The Kohlmeyer Circle is administered by a board of volunteer members.
